Capoint Co is bringing a new GPS navigation system to U.S. called XRoad V4050 the device secured an FCC approval and is well on its way to hit the shelves here in the U.S. XRoad V4050 is actually the same as Takara GP43 . The 4.3-inch (10.9 cm) touchscreen PND which has a 480×272 resolution with an unusually high 16.5 million colors comes with a 2GB SD card preloaded with US and Canadian map data and features the oh-so-popular SiRFStar III chip, a 400MHz Samsung CPU, Bluetooth, and a multimedia player that support MP3, MPEG4 and JPG files. No word on pricing or availability, but that Takara unit sold in Europe for €500 ($719) .
Takara just announced a new PND: the GP43. It has a wide screen at 4.3 inches The navigation software is Takara TK6.1 which is based on Destinator 6 and it ships with maps of Europe coming from Navteq which is provided on a 1GB SD card.
The good news for European drivers is that speed and camera radar locations are preloaded and their update is free. Another new feature with Takara is that GP43 also has bluetooth support.
